Still Pointe is happy to offer two dance classes a week for people with Parkinson's.
On Tuesdays from 12pm-1pm we offer a class modeled after the Dance for PD® program developed by the Mark Morris Dance Group in New York. This class uses the elements of narrative, imagery, music, and community to develop artistry and grace while addressing such PD-specific concerns as balance, flexibility, coordination, isolation, and depression.
On Thursdays from 12pm-1pm we offer a line dance class. Line dancing is a great way to kick up your heels and enjoy life! In line dance, we move to choreographed dances with repeated sequencing of steps. The steps are simple, accessible and most of all fun. There’s no experience necessary, just a desire to let loose and have fun.
Although this is a standing dance class, balance barres are available for those who desire them. While dancing, you’ll be able to improve posture, enhance range of motion, strengthen muscles, foster brain-body coordination, increase balance and stability, gain aerobic benefits, and much more.
You may take a trial class for free. The cost is $5. per class for people with Parkinson's. Support persons are encouraged to take the class, as well, and may do so without charge.
